I never even heard of TED Talks until about a year or so ago. 
Once I watched my first motivational video, I instantly became hooked.
I went months, where every day I had to watch a video with my breakfast.
You can find TED Talk videos on youtube. 

TED Talks shares the best ideas from trusted voices and convention-breaking mavericks, icons and geniuses, all giving the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less).
They post a new video everyday, so you can always learn & better yourself!
I have watched a numerous amount of TED Talk videos, so to narrow it down to just 7 was quite hard. However, I believe these top 7 WILL change your life and thoughts about life.

Some of this information you may be already aware of, but it’s always motivating to watch these videos regardless. 🙂

Top 7 TED Talks That Will Change Your Life:

1. All It Takes Is 10 Mindful Minutes

By: Andy Puddicombe

He begins by asking (and what I want you to answer right now as well):
When was the last time you did absolutely nothing?
I mean seriously… nothing. No texting, talking, reading, or even thinking.

This motivational TED Talk video talks about the importance of taking 10 minutes out of your day to meditate. Being present in the moment. 

He states that we spend half of our life lost in our thoughts and unhappy.
Can you believe that? We only have ONE life to live in our physical bodies on this universe and we choose to spend half of it miserable and not present in the moment.
Most humans tend to live constantly stressed or live in fear. Happiness seems to be on the back burner because “that’s just how life is supposed to be.”

He talks about how meditation allows you to see thoughts and emotions coming and going with a relaxed, focused mind.

So bottom line is, try taking 10 minutes out of your day to be mindful and watch how your stress decreases and your happiness increases.

Ever since I have watched this video and read her books, my life has went from worrying and living a lot of my life in fear to taking risks and making the most out of every day for my mental, physical, and spiritual health!

3. How To Make Stress Your Best Friend

That’s right, she said it first. Stress is actually your friend, not enemy. 
When I initially saw this title, I laughed and said “no way!” 
However, Kelly is 100% correct. 

What you think, is how your body responds. 

When we are stressed, our heart starts beating loudly, our palms start sweating, and our mind become a blur. 
These physical feeling tells our mind that these feelings are bad, which makes us panic even more. 
Sound familiar?

According to Kelly, numerous studies have been done showing that it’s not the stress that causes us to have health problems later in life, it’s actually our belief that stress is a bad thing that does.

Instead, we must see and view stress as helpful. 
These “stress signs” are actually your bodies way of helping you through the challenge.
The pounding heart is preparing you for action.
An increase in breathing is happening to increase the oxygen to your brain.

Don’t fear stress, start accepting stress as a friend and watch as your body stays more calm during stressful situations. 🙂

4. The Secret of Mentally Strong People

Not going to lie, my heart ached when I watched this one. 
Amy went through the death of her mother and newly wedded husband right after the other at a very young age.

She explains that the secret to becoming mentally strong is you have to give up your bad mental habits.

The only way to get through horrible uncomfortable emotions is to get through it. Don’t throw a pity party for yourself. Move forward. Let it all out. 

Change those bad mental habits with good habits. 
Change thoughts triggered with anxiety to thoughts of gratitude. 
Change negative views of yourself with positive ones.
“I hate myself” to “I love all my flaws and see beauty in all of them.”

You may be nodding your head right now saying “well yeah..”

5. Happiness Is All In Your Mind

But when things don’t.. your happiness disappears. 

We judge our happiness based on our externally circumstances. 
Amy talks about how we allow happiness to be in the hands of others.
Which makes our happiness unstable.

This is ringing a bell for you, correct? 
When your boss yells at you for X, Y, and Z … you come home and tell your family that your day was awful because of him. 

If we have a constant peaceful state of mind, we can be happy regardless of the external circumstances.

Try meditating daily, to create a peaceful positive state of mind. <3

6. The Philosophy For A Happy Life

Sam was diagnosed with Progeria, a rare, rapid aging disease, at the age of 2.
When you watch this video, Sam just has the biggest heart and really understands how to make the most of life no matter what condition you’re given. 

He discusses that even though he has many obstacles in life, he has a very happy life.
Sam’s 3 aspects of having a happy life:

1. I’m okay what I can’t do, because there are so many things that I can do.

My heart truly melted when he said this because he is so right! 
Every day we may complain about things we can’t do, when ultimately WHO CARES. 
We aren’t meant to do everything and that shouldn’t define our happiness. 
Start focusing what you can do and what you are grateful for in your life.

2. I surround myself with who I want to be around.

Those who make you laugh, smile, and see you for who YOU are in the inside. 

3. Keep moving forward

Even if you progress is slow, remember that forward is forward.
It’s okay to be a turtle. It’s not about who finishes first, it’s about the journey to get where you want to be.  

7. How To Stop Screwing Yourself Over

By: Mel Robbins

 

Mel changes the way we think in order to get whatever you want in life. 
The biggest reason why we don’t accomplish anything we want in life is because we accept that everything in life that we have is “just fine” and don’t actually force ourselves to go and make things happen.

This may sound obvious, but that’s because it is. 
We love to let our mind go on auto pilot. Why? Because it’s easy.

Mel says that when you feel stuck in life that one of your basic needs in life are not being met, aka exploration. 
The ONLY way to get out of a rut is to get uncomfortable.
GET OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE!! 

Easier said than done, but you don’t want to be 90 years old and have a regret list. Start doing!!
